I love Mambo and Cha Cha. That is what me and my wife do. We never dance on one unless we are dancing with other people in little rock. Most places I have lived or danced have everyone danced on two. Memphis and Little Rock have been the only exceptions.

My $.02 forthcoming... another reason why anybody learning salsa needs to learn on2 timing! It's not hard, in fact, it's easier since you're breaking on the conga slaps (beats 2 and 6) and easy to sync to (see the other videos that I linked to). Latin Cha cha in its simplest form is salsa with a triple step... on2 timing of course! :)
