LOL! You sound like me! I sometimes put on those blue disposable shoe covers that the Dr's and nurses wear to the OR or to isolation rooms. They are nice and slippery and allow for some nice spins on the floor. Just don't do it when the bigwigs ar...

I love Mambo and Cha Cha. That is what me and my wife do. We never dance on one unless we are dancing with other people in little rock. Most places I have lived or danced have everyone danced on two. Memphis and Little Rock have been the only exce...

My $.02 forthcoming... another reason why anybody learning salsa needs to learn on2 timing! It's not hard, in fact, it's easier since you're breaking on the conga slaps (beats 2 and 6) and easy to sync to (see the other videos that I linked to). L...

Yeah, I'm familiar with the theory that mambo is originally European. I disagree with it. I think it was more likly a afro-latino slave dance.

Loving the new music, John! And to John Cobb, A2S posted a new cool cross body lead video recently. I'll add it to this site soon. :)

I would say for online vids, addicted2salsa is probably your best bet. You can also look up salsa / mambo on youtube. Some are good and some are dodgy. Congrats on getting your daughter to join you. It could be a great way to bond!

How long have you been dancing salsa?
Since mid June, 2009
About Me:
I'm still a beginner at salsa but I'm learning pretty fast. Besides salsa, I enjoy cha cha, bachata, and merengue. One of these days, I want to add samba to the list as well. I first got the interest in salsa when I went to California in June, 2009 and went to a club downtown (San Diego) called Cafe Sevilla. Valerie teaches there and she's good! Little Rock's answer to Cafe Sevilla is the Rev Room and you might bump into me there on every other Wednesday. I enjoy teaching the basics to newcomers and tell them to believe in themselves. You can do it... but you have to want to. :)
!VIVA SALSA!

I added more music to the site, and some of the ones toward the end are slow.

Hey, I have hundreds of slow salsa songs, but I will not be out tonight. I will start working on those CD's for you.

I do have them from Mike Bello, but I think its probably not the best idea to post them without permission. Why don't I loan it to you? We also are going to start using it more in the Saturday class to get comfortable with where the salsa beats are on each instrument.

BTW...that is a rockin video you posted on the different dancing styles.

Wow! I did not even consider that that song sounds like SHO. You are right. Jimmy Bosch played on their last LP, and some of the members from SHO play on that particular song.

Hi, Ronnie. I've seen you around the dancing places, but I don't think we've danced. Maybe we can try it on Wednesday at the Rev Room.
